Big Sean, whose full name is Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, was born in 1988 in Santa Monica, California. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he was raised by his mother and grandmother. He graduated from Cass Technical High School and also attended the Waldorf School. Growing up on Detroit's west side, he often references this area in his music.
