Bill Maher is an American comedian and political commentator. He currently hosts the HBO political talk show Real Time with Bill Maher which began in 2003. Previously he hosted Politically Incorrect from 1993-2002. He is known for a sarcastic attitude and political satire. Real Time with Bill Maher has been nominated for more than ten Primetime Emmy Awards and six Writer's Guild awards for its sociopolitical commentary.
Maher holds the record for most Emmy nominations without a win. He has been nominated 22 times, with eleven being for Politically Incorrect and nine for Real Time. He also received two nominations for his two HBO comedy specials titled I'm Swiss and Bill Maher: The Decider. He once challenged President Trump $5 million to produce his birth certificate, which Trump ultimately did. When Maher did not deliver, Trump sued him but eventually dropped the lawsuit after eight weeks.
