Acting Career and Notable Roles

Bill Paxton began his acting career in 1975. One of his earliest jobs in the film industry was working behind the scenes in the art department. He gradually landed roles in prominent science fiction films, including The Terminator (1984), directed by James Cameron; Aliens (1986), also by Cameron; and Predator 2 (1990).

One of Paxton’s most iconic roles came in 1997 when he played Brock Lovett in Titanic, one of the highest-grossing films of all time. He later joined director James Cameron on a deep-sea expedition to the actual wreck site of the Titanic, which inspired the famous film.

In addition to his film work, Paxton starred in a range of television roles. His most notable TV performance was as Bill Henrickson in the HBO drama Big Love, in which he portrayed the lead character navigating life in a polygamist family. He also appeared in several other television productions during his career.

Personal Life and Family

Bill Paxton was married to Louise Newbury from 1987 until his passing in 2017. The couple met in London on a bus ride and went on to build a lasting partnership. Together, they had two children—James and Lydia Paxton—and resided in Ojai, California.
