Background

Brendan Coyle is of Irish and Scottish decent. He wanted to be an actor from his childhood. His mother and father had an affair and eventually got married. Because of his Scottish and Irish background, he has both British and Irish citizenship. He often lives in London and Norfolk. He loves to be these two places. He was a Drama student in the year 1981 in Dublin. He was a brilliant actor among his batch and got a scholarship for his acting skill. The scholarship allowed him to go Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts which is located in United Kingdom in the year 1983. This added a special feature in his biography.

Career

Despite having a desire and passion for being an actor, Brendan did get a big break in movies and tv shows before 1999 when he acted in ‘The Weir’. The Director of the critically acclaimed play ‘The Weir’ was Conor Mcpherson. After the show famous newspaper The Telegraph called it ‘A modern classic’. Also The Guardian called the play as ‘A contemporary classic’. This modern masterpiece was rewarded New York Critics Theatre World Award.

After such a huge positive response, Brandon started his stardom and got the prestigious award called Olivier Award. He got it in the category of Best Supporting Performance. He is a profound stage actor who always ruled the stage with characters like Gestapo Chief Heinrich Muller, Kaz Sweeney, Nicholas Higgins. He has a special fondness for all his roles. And he liked to play these roles for a long time.

In the year 2010, he started playing John Bates. It was another role in a period drama series of television. The role was so perfect and tailored made for him that the writer of the series particularly wrote the role for Brandon himself. He was not a protagonist or antagonist but he acted so effectively that he was nominated for the prestigious EMMY Award. He acted in so many TV shows including The Bill, Silent Witness, Paths to Freedom, Starlings, True Dare Kiss and Downtown Abbey. His talent is not only in acting. He founded a production company with Joy Harrison. The name of their company is Anderson Shelter Production Limited.

He maintains a low profile regarding his personal life. After being such a mainstream actor, there is not very much information is available about him. We don’t know if he is married or not.
