Having grown up surrounded by art and culture, Chow developed a passion for artistic expression from a young age. Regular visits to museums and galleries with her parents cultivated her early interest. She was introduced to drawing with the encouragement of family friend and acclaimed artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Her artistic education was further enriched through encounters with influential artists such as Keith Haring, Francesco Clemente, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, and Julian Schnabel while living in Manhattan.
Chow has described art as one of the truest forms of self-expression, believing that while clothing and food are essential aspects of life, art transcends boundaries and communicates on a deeper level.
In 1996, China Chow was named one of Harper’s Bazaar’s ‘It Girls’ and was also featured in Vogue's “The Next Best-Dressed List” the same year. Her appeal extended to mainstream pop culture, ranking 22nd in Maxim’s Hot 100 Women list in both 2000 and 2001.
In addition to her work in fashion and entertainment, Chow actively supports charitable organizations. She volunteers with non-profits including Chrysalis, The Art of Elysium, and Inner-City Arts, contributing to causes that align with her commitment to creativity and social betterment.
