Chris McKendry was born on February 18, 1968, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended Archbishop Ryan High School, where she excelled academically and athletically. A talented tennis player, McKendry earned a tennis scholarship to attend Drexel University, where she graduated in 1990. Her early passion for sports, particularly tennis, laid the foundation for her future career in sports journalism.

Career Beginnings and Transition to ESPN

Following her graduation, McKendry began her career as a sports reporter with ABC. In 1996, she joined ESPN as a sports anchor. Her early work included anchoring on ESPN News, the network's 24-hour sports news channel. However, her deep-rooted love for sports eventually led her back to the flagship program, SportsCenter, where she became known for co-hosting the show’s weekend morning and weekday 6 p.m. editions.

Key Roles and Contributions

In addition to her work on SportsCenter, McKendry also served as the host of Redskin Magazine, a live hour-long show dedicated to covering the Washington Redskins (now Washington Commanders). Over the years, she became a prominent face on ESPN's tennis coverage. Notably, she began serving as a full-time on-site host for ESPN’s tennis coverage in 2016, including major events such as Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.
