Early Life and Training

Growing up in a show business family in Laurel Canyon, Hollywood revealed Christina’s acting capabilities. She enrolled in Excelsior High School in Los Angeles and was class mate to Milla Jovovich, another movie star. Christina’s early learnings were from her mother with whom she had a very close relationship.

Career

Without a doubt, one can safely conclude that the blonde actress was born into acting. At three months old, she was used as a male baby in the soap opera ‘Days of Our Lives.’ She was also used as a baby in a Playtex Nurser commercial, appearing alongside her mother. At age three, Christina featured in Kmart’s radio commercials as Miss Good Proof, for a period of four years.

A time came however when the girl grew and left the shadows of her mother. At age eight, she made her first movies appearance in ‘Jaws of Satan’ (also known as King Cobra). She went on to make guest appearances in some television series and made her way into the cast of ‘Married…with Children’ in 1987. Playing the role of Kelly Bundy in the series made Christina very famous in movie circles around the world.

Her artistry and finesse on stage was obvious and made her highly sought after. The list of movies she has been involved in is long. She played a major role in ‘Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead’, ‘Grand Theft Parsons’, ‘The Big Hit,’ ‘The Sweetest Thing’, ‘Prince Charming’ and ‘Farce of the Penguins.’ Apart from movies, she starred in several television situation comedies, playing lead roles in ‘Jesse’ between 1998 and 2000, ‘Samantha Who?’ from 2007 to 2009 and ‘Up All Night’ from 2011 to 2012.

Applegate was one of the founding members of Pussycat Dolls (a dance group that evolved into a pop band). She engages in dancing to stay fit and displayed her dancing skills in ‘Married…with Children.’

As expected from an actress with Christina’s talent, she has won many awards for her distinction in acting. Notable amongst these are: Emmy Awards – Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2013, People’s Choice Awards – Favorite Female Performer in a New Television Series, Primetime Emmy Awards – Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, 2004 and People’s Choice Awards – Favorite Female TV Star. She also got numerous nominations for awards in her career.

Personal Life

Christina got married to Jonathan Schaech in October 2001 in California. Four years into the marriage, Schaech filed for divorce, claiming irreconcilable differences. Christina moved on and dated Martyn LeNoble, a musician in 2009. On Valentine’s Day of 2010, the pair engaged and sealed the union by marriage in 2013 in Los Angeles. They have a daughter, Sadie Grace, born in 2013.

Christina was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. She made a full recovery and was declared cancer-free after a double mastectomy. She inherited the trait from her mother who has been a recurrent figure in Christina’s biography. Interestingly, Christina’s mother also survived the ailment. As part of efforts in advocacy, Christina founded the Right Action for Women, a charitable foundation involved in screening women. Christina has amassed considerable wealth has a net worth estimated to be $20 million.
