Matthews attended Agoura High School in California, where his father worked as a defensive coordinator. Initially, Matthews did not start on the football team, as his father believed he lacked the physical strength required to compete at a high level. Collegiate Career at University of Southern California

Professional Career with the Green Bay Packers
In the 2009 NFL Draft, Clay Matthews III was selected in the first round by the Green Bay Packers. He quickly became a key part of the team’s defense. While he faced some injuries early in his career, including during his rookie season, he was able to return strongly.
By the 2010 season, Matthews had established himself as a premier linebacker. He recorded 60 total tackles, including 54 solo tackles during the season. He also played a pivotal role in the Packers' Super Bowl XLV victory, registering three tackles in the championship game.
