He is someone who has discovered more stars than anyone in the music business. In his old age now, music idol Clive Davis (net-worth - $800 million) is still busy doing business as usual. He has been an active soul in the industry for past 45 years.
Born on April 4, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, to a Jewish family, Clive Jay Davis was born in a middle class family; his father being an electrician and salesman.
An image of hard work, dedication and punctuality since his childhood, teenage Clive worked hard and earned grades even in the aftermath of his parent's death. His parent's death left him homeless with no money.
Teen Davis was still grieving his parent's death. His mother had died when she was 47 and his father had died one year later. He had limited places to go, but he had his academic aspirations.
Thankfully, his New York located married sister supported him and welcomed him to stay in her house.
Shortly after he moved to New York and got enrolled in New York University College of Arts and Science earning a full scholarship. After graduating magna cum, laude, Phi Beta Kappa from the university, he got enrolled in Harvard Law School earning full scholarship for the second time. During his Harvard days, he also worked as the Board of Student Advisors
Like any academically sound student, his post Harvard days was about using his college days education to work. He started his career working for a small law firm. Then he went on to work for Roseman & Colin, then famous law firm known for it's estate and trust planning and administration, real estate, intellectual property and litigation practices.
After that, his friendship with former Roseman & Colin colleague Harvey Sechein paid off. Harvey hired Clive as the assistant counsel of CBS at the age of 28.
And after five years plus of hard work and dedication at CBS, he was elected as president of new-found CBS's music operation group Columbia records. Before Columbia, he had climbed up the CBS's organizational ladder, starting from assistant counsel to general counsel to administrative Vice president and tehn to General Manager to President of CBS. His notable work credentials post CBS included Arista Records and J Records as founder, RCA Music Group CEO, J Records CEO and BMG North America CEO.
Now fast forwarding to 2015, he is currently chief creative officer of Sony Music Entertainment whose job is to bring in talents under Sony plus manage and foresee careers of various stars such as Christina Augilera, Jenifer Hudson and TLC to name a few. The five times Grammy winner and non-performer Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is often credited with bringing Whitney Houston to the limelight.
Not only that, he is often credited for giving new dimension to folk rock and Rock and Roll by bringing in record-breaking stars to the mainstream wherever he worked. In the past, he has managed various famous acts such as Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, Janis Joplin, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Kinks, Donnie and Carlos Santana.
Now moving on to his physical configuration, he is not a tall man with the speculated height of 5 feet and 6 inches (or 5 feet and 7 inches). Because of balding, he has lost most of his hair (no on frontal lobe and parietal lobe area). Nevertheless, he wears some kind of weird wig (with spray) on the occipital area of his head. As of 2015, he is 83 and still working. We will give him a point for that. Clearly, despite of his busy lifestyle, he has probably managed a healthy lifestyle. Anyway, he has a visible amount of weight on his belly.
Anyway, he is always seen wearing suits. Hi is known for matching his pocket square with his tie.
Talking about his relationship status, he is a straight man turned bisexual. In his biography book The Soundtrack of My Life, he reveals that he has found love in a male. However, he hasn't disclosed who the man is, but we know that he is a male doctor and they have been dating since 2004. Previously, he has been married and divorce twice (altogether 4 children and 6 grandchildren).
Like many famous man, he has also been a matter of various controversies. Some notable one include "Getting fired from CBS allegedly for using personal funds for personal expense" and "organizing a party and not pulling it off despite Whitney Housten dead body being in the same building (later the party was turned into a tribute event)."
