Colin Jackson biography, career

Colin Jackson is a retired British sprint and hurdling athlete who was born on February 18, 1967, in Cardiff, South Wales. He is of mixed descent including Jamaican, Maroon, Taino, and Scottish ancestry. Jackson is the brother of Suzanne Packer, the actress who played Tess Betaman in the BBC One television show Casualty about hospital drama. He grew up in Birchgrove where he attended Springwood Primary School. During his high school years at Llandedeyrn High School, he played on the county football and cricket teams.

He also played for the rugby union and the high school basketball team. Jackson hit a defining point in his life when he joined the athletics club Birchgrove Harriers. From there, he grew under his coach Malcolm Arnold. The pair were good friends and he soon won the gold medal at the 1886 World Junior Championships. He ended his professional career in 2003, he soon began working as an athletics coach.
