David Palffy

Early Life and Education

David Palffy was born on March 5, 1969, in Canada. Of Hungarian-Welsh descent, he originally pursued a career in law, obtaining his LLB from the University of Calgary. However, his passion for the performing arts led him to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London. During his time in London, he lived on a Dutch barge near the Thames River, where he continued to hone his craft in classical theatre. Among his notable early stage roles was Oberon in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Palffy’s acting break came when he appeared in Stanley Kubrick’s film Full Metal Jacket. He later garnered acclaim for playing the lead in the Dutch television series De Zomer van 45, a drama set in the aftermath of World War II. Following this, he performed with the National Theatre Company before returning to Vancouver, Canada. There, he joined the Yaletown Actors Lab, where he taught acting and directing.

Television and Film Career

David Palffy is best known for his work in science fiction television, particularly for playing the roles of the Goa'uld villains Sokar and Anubis in the acclaimed series Stargate SG-1. His ability to portray complex antagonists earned him international recognition among science fiction fans.

He has also made recurring appearances in popular television shows, including Cold Squad, The X-Files, First Wave, Andromeda, and Blade: The Series. In film, he played the character Castillo in the video game-inspired movie House of the Dead.

Interior Design Career

In addition to his acting career, Palffy established himself as a skilled interior designer in Vancouver. He has worked on the redesign, refurbishment, and renovation of high-end residential properties, showcasing his proficiency in both creative and structural design elements.
