She started performing in a local band named as “Realit” during her early teenage life. Kemic A. discovered her during her performance in the year 2004 where she was performing live in New Orleans. She signed a contract with the name Dawn Angelique to record with Octave Anderson Jr and his independent recording label. The name of the label is Yeah! Brothers record. They recorded the Album “Been a while” in which she also had a solo song. She toured and gave live performances while she was recording for the album “Been a while”. She also became a cheerleader for the team “New Orleans Homets”. At that time, she was going to the University of New Orleans.

She gave audition for the show “Making the Band” which used to air on MTV in the year 2005. This was her big break and made her famous. She was selected to compete for a place in a girl’s band. She joined “Bad Boy worldwide Entertainment” which gave a rise to her singing career. The newly formed band was named “Danity Kane”. The name of the band was released on 14th June 2006. They were supposed to release their comic book in the year 2009. However, the group divided in early 2009 only. She started working with Bad Boys entertainment in the year 2009. She was also seen in a commercial during the team. She joined the group “Diddy-Dirty Money”. She was seen as “Money” in the video for “The Way You Love Me”.  Her studio albums include “Goldenheart” and “Blackheart” from the years 2013 & 2015 respectively. The group Danity Kane reunited in the year 2013. Their unreleased video got leaked on the New Year day of 2014. The video was very much appreciated. Their first single after reunion was named as “Lemonade” was released by “SoundCloud”. They went on a tour named as “#DKNoFilter” in the year 2014. One of the band member Fimbers announced that she would be leaving the group after the tour on 16th May 2014. The group broke up in 2014 again due to some fight.

She also appeared on the show “Making the Band 4”. She got involved in a relationship with Qwanell Mosley. The relationship lasted for 5 years. They were some rumors recently that she is going to get engaged soon. However, that has not been confirmed. She is very active on Twitter with her handle “@DawnRichard”. She was accused by twitter that she has undergone a plastic surgery. There is also an actress with the same name who has worked in various movies. She has an estimated net worth of $2.5 million.
