Denise Richards is an American actress, television personality, model, and philanthropist. She is best known for her roles in the feature films Starship Troopers and Wild Things.
Denise Richards was born on February 17, 1971, in Downers Grove, Illinois. Her father, Irv Richards, worked as a telephone engineer, while her mother, Joni Richards, owned and operated a café chain called Jitters. Denise was raised in both Mokena and Downers Grove alongside her sister, Michelle Richards.
She attended Herrick Junior High School in Illinois and completed her freshman year at Downers Grove North High School. In 1989, she graduated from El Camino High School in Oceanside, California, after her family relocated to the West Coast.
Following high school, Denise Richards began a career in modeling, working in major cities such as Tokyo, Paris, and New York. Her modeling career included various commercials and photo assignments, eventually leading her to acting.
Richards had early television appearances on popular series including Married with Children, Saved by the Bell, Friends, and Melrose Place.
