Dolph Lundgren is a Swedish actor, director, and film producer who is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the Soviet boxer Ivan Drago in the 1985 film, Rocky IV. Dolph Lundgren was born Hans Lundgren, on November 3, 1957, in Spanga, Sweden. Lundgren received a degree in chemical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology and went on to receive a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney. Lundgren holds a black belt in Kyokushin karate and was European champion in 1980-1981. Lundgren took a job as bodyguard for singer Grace Jones and the two began a relationship. Lundgren received a Fulbright scholarship to The Massachusetts Institute of Technology and moved to Boston; Jones convinced him to move to New York City to be with her and to take up acting.
His first role was in the James Bond film A View to a Kill. Throughout the 1980’s Lundgren was linked romantically to Grace Jones and Paula Barbieri; in 1994 he married Anette Qviberg. The couple has two daughters, Ida Sigrid, and Greta Eveline. Lundgren currently lives in Los Angeles, California. Lundgren likes to spar and practice his karate at the Equinox Gym in Westwood, California.
