Donatangelo Orsillo was born on December 16, 1968, in Melrose, Massachusetts. He spent most of his childhood days in Madison, New Hampshire. Until the age of 12, he did his schooling at John H. Fuller Elementary School and after that, he went on to continue his studies at Kennett Junior High School situated in Conway, New Hampshire.

For his high school education, Don attended Miraleste High School situated in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. He played on the high school’s baseball and basketball teams. He graduated in the year 1987 from high school and. He completed his college degree in Communication Studies from Northeastern University. While working on his degree, he took the first step towards his childhood dreams of being a broadcaster for the Boston Red Sox.

Career and Net Worth

Don Orsillo bagged the opportunity of a lifetime doing an internship with Joe Castiglione, the Red Sox radio announcer. From 1996 to 2000, he went on to become the announcer on the radio for Pawtucket Red Sox games and worked in minor league baseball games before starting to work for the major leagues. From then, he slowly worked his way to move up. He was even given the nicknames Toad, Announcer Boy, and Donny Man.

At the New England Sports Network, Don became the play-by-play man for the Boston Red Sox, and his first game was in the year 2001 between Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles. The game was historic because it was the first no-hitter was pitched a Boston Red Sox player since 1965. Hideo Nomo was the pitcher to end Boston's multi decade long drought.

Don started calling games with Jerry Remy on NESN as well as WSBK for the 2005 season. Before the 2005 season, he used to work on calling games only on NESN. Don Orsillo was later succeeded by Dave O’ Brien when New England Sports Network decided to replace Orsillo in the year 2015.

During his announcing career in NESN, Orsillo has worked with several color commentators like Jerry Remy, Nick Cafardo, Dennis Eckersley, Frank Viola, Sean Casey, and Dave Roberts. Orsillo has called playoff games for the Major League Baseball Division Series since 2007 which airs on TBS. He has also called games for the Beanpot hockey tournament aired on NESN, Providence College men’s basketball aired on Cox Sports, and Big East basketball aired on Big East Network. From 1994 to 1996, he also worked as a broadcaster for the Springfield Falcons. In 2013, he called games between Oakland Athletics and Detroit Tigers. After working with Red Sox, he went on to work with San Diego Padres in the year 2016.
