Dr. Dre is a founder and the current CEO of Aftermath Entertainment, a label that signed and launched the careers of several successful artists, most notably Eminem and 50 Cent. Prior to this, he was a co-owner and key artist at Death Row Records during its influential run in the 1990s.
In addition to his contributions to music, Dr. Dre co-founded Beats Electronics, a premium audio products company best known for its line of headphones. In 2014, Apple Inc. acquired Beats Electronics for $3 billion, significantly contributing to Dre’s wealth. That year, Forbes ranked him as the top-earning figure in hip-hop with an estimated pre-tax income of $620 million—at the time, the highest one-year earnings total ever recorded by a musician. His net worth was estimated at over $550 million.
Dr. Dre has six children, including four sons and two daughters. His first son, Curtis Young, was born when Dre was 16 years old and his then-girlfriend, Cassandra Greene, was 15. Dre later married Nicole Threatt, the former wife of NBA player Sedale Threatt. The couple has two children together, though they have since separated in 2020.
