Davies is a native of Manchester, born in March 24, 1980. Her father is David Davies who is sports administrator and journalist. She graduated from the St Edmund Hall University at Oxford. She received her bachelor’s degree in Geography in the year 2001. Davies has a daughter, Molly. Amanda loves sports in all forms and spends her free time in various sports activities. She plays tennis and frequents the gym without missing a chance. She is also a runner and has completed the 2005 London Marathon. Davies is a Manchester United fan.

Amanda Davies began her career in Sky Sports in the year 2001 as a runner. She was later made the assistant producer covering sporting events like US Open and Cricket World Cup live. She was also made on -the -road producer and her reporting includes the coverage of 2006 World Cup in Germany which she did by staying in Berlin for the entire seven weeks. She later worked at BBC anchoring sports bulletins on its various networks including BBC World News, Breakfast on BBC One, and BBC News Channel. She also anchored the show Inside F1 at BBC News. She joined CNN in April, 2012. She will be covering the World Sports show which was re-launched by CNN. Alex Thomas and Pedro Pinto will work along with her to cover sports news related to golf, football, tennis, cricket, basketball, and motor-sport.

She has covered many major sports events live including the Champions League, Wimbledon, Formula 1 Races, The Boat Race, and the English Premier League. During her graduation from St Edmund Hall at Oxford University, she received the Philip Geddes Memorial Prize for Journalism.
Amanda Davies also devotes her time to charities. She is an Ambassador for Sparks and also a staunch supporter of the organization ‘Bliss’. She is a patron of the Milk Bank at the Chelsea Hospital and Queen Charlotte hospital. She joined the milk bank in 2012 after her daughter’s premature birth.
