Angelica Hale is a Filipino-American singer born on July 31, 2007, in Atlanta, Georgia, to her parents James Hale and Eva Bolando. Her mother hails from Iligan City in the Philippines, while her father is of both Caucasian and Filipino descent. At the age of four, Hale contracted a severe case of bacterial pneumonia, which led to septic shock and multiple organ failure, including her kidneys. In 2013, after spending 80 days at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, she received a life-saving kidney transplant donated by her mother.
After her recovery, Angelica Hale pursued her love for music, beginning formal vocal training with vocal coach Tricia Grey in Alpharetta, Georgia. Demonstrating natural talent and determination, she participated in local singing competitions and performed at various events, including those hosted by Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Her early performances helped her build confidence and gain recognition for her vocal abilities.
Angelica Hale rose to national acclaim in 2017 as a contestant on the twelfth season of America’s Got Talent. At just nine years old, she captivated audiences with her powerful voice and earned the Golden Buzzer from guest judge Chris Hardwick. She ultimately finished as the season’s runner-up, becoming the youngest contestant ever to achieve that distinction in the show’s history.
Following her success on America’s Got Talent, Hale’s career continued to flourish. On October 8, 2018, she performed the National Anthem at SunTrust Park in Atlanta for the MLB playoff game between the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Her performance further solidified her status as a rising young artist.
In recognition of her inspiring story of resilience and recovery, Angelica Hale became the first child ambassador for the National Kidney Foundation. She uses her platform to raise awareness about pediatric health issues, particularly kidney disease, and organ donation. Hale continues to inspire audiences with both her music and her advocacy work.
