Chris Hardwick

Christopher Ryan Hardwick, professionally known as Chris Hardwick, is a multifaceted American performer and media personality. He is an accomplished actor, producer, stand-up comedian, musician, television host, writer, podcaster, and voice artist. He was born on November 23, 1971, in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. Chris is the son of the late Billy Hardwick, a professional bowling champion, and Sharon Hills, a California-based real estate agent. His professional career has spanned from 1991 to the present.

Education

Hardwick began his education at St. Benedict at Auburndale, a K–12 school, before transferring to Regis Jesuit High School in Colorado. He later completed his high school education at Loyola High School in Los Angeles. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he studied philosophy.

Early Career in Comedy and Radio

Chris Hardwick started his career in the early 1990s as a DJ at Los Angeles radio station KROQ-FM. He later pursued stand-up comedy, eventually forming the musical comedy duo Hard 'n Phirm with fellow comedian Mike Phirman. The duo gained recognition for their blend of humor and music, releasing the album Horses and Grasses in 2005. Hardwick also released a solo comedy album titled Mandroid in 2012.

Television Hosting and The Nerdist Brand

Hardwick gained prominence as the host of MTV's dating show Singled Out in the 1990s. He went on to host several other television programs, including Shipmates, Wired Science, and Web Soup. He became widely recognized for hosting The Talking Dead, the post-episode discussion show for AMC's The Walking Dead, as well as companion shows Talking Bad and Talking Saul.

Hardwick founded and hosted The Nerdist Podcast, which became a central part of the Nerdist Industries brand—a company focused on nerd culture that expanded into digital content, books, and television production. On Comedy Central, he hosted @midnight with Chris Hardwick, a late-night game show centering on internet culture, which aired from 2013 to 2017.
