<p>Anna Akana is an American <a href="/biography/anna-akana">actress</a>, filmmaker, comedian and author, who is well known for her YouTube channel which has over two million subscribers. Anna Akana was born August 18, 1989; she is of mixed ancestry, including Japanese, Filipino, and Hawaiian, among others.</p>

<p>Anna creates comedic YouTube videos and has appeared in the television series Awkward. Anna also has a clothing line called Ghost & Stars which features cat-themed designs. In 2007, Akana’s thirteen year old sister died of apparent suicide; this event has had a lasting impact on Akana’s life and has led to her becoming a strong advocate for suicide prevention. Anna Akana published her book “So Much I Want to Tell You: Letters to My Little Sister” in 2017.</p>

<p>Earlier this year, Akana came out publicly as a bisexual during her acceptance speech for a Streamy Award. Anna Akana is the executive producer and star of the original comedy-drama web television series Youth & Consequences which was released in March of 2018</p>
