Anne Marie Abeyesinghe Mediwake is known as a Canadian news anchor. She is most famous for being the co-anchor of CBC News Toronto.
Anne Marie Abeyesinghe Mediwake was born in the year 1975 at Kandy in Sri Lanka. Her parents migrated from Sri Lanka to Canada when she was very young. Her family is a mixed combo where her father is a native Sri Lankan and her mother has Scottish origins.
Anne Marie got married to her co-worker Darryl Konynenbelt who also earns a living as a journalist. After working together in their profession and dating, they finally decided to get married to each other. This couple is the proud parents of triplets. They named their children Maxim Bandara, Annabel Abeyesinghe, and Libby Abeyesinghe. Their three kids were born in the year 2007.
Anne Marie started working on television when she was a young lady. She excelled in writing and producing many youth and children shows that aired on the local television station at Alberta. Her travel as a journalist has been a long journey and she has been very passionate about achieving her dreams and desires. Her interest in the television industry has brought her to an opportunity to share the screen as a co-host for News Hour at Global.
During the 1990s, Anne served at many stations at Alberta which was her hometown. At this period, Anne took on different possibilities to try and made some attempts in everything related to television. She even voluntarily appeared for the ridiculous empty hours, which no one preferred or wanted to do. It was all about getting experience, she stated in an interview.
Anne continued her television career in the year 1993 at Lethbridge. Her dedication and hard work got her a chance to get a producing role on 100 Huntley Street in Toronto. In the year 2001, Annie got the chance to anchor The National, one of the best and Gemini award-winning programs for CTV. This investigative work let her move and travel to many places in Canada and as well to many other countries. While working at CTV, Mediwake was a reporter for CTV National, Newsnet, and Canada AM while covering stories like the SARS crisis and Papal Visit. Once after joining CTV, Anne got the opportunity to host the victorious 21, which was a current affair program that targeted the young Canadian generation.
In the year 2009. Anne was employed by the CBC News Channel. During the year 2010, October, Anne shared the screen with Dwight Drummond for CBC News Toronto’s supper hour news.
With her incredible presentation and trust, she has been able to consistently win the viewer’s attention. Her commitments and sincerity as a journalist have paved the way to bag many credits and prestigious awards as well. In the year 2011, Marie was nominated for the GTA’s Women of the year and she was also a winner of the Consumer’s Choice Awards. Her community involvement was just as inspiring and wonderful.
