Brian Dennehy was born on July 9, 1938 in Connecticut. His father, Edward Dennehy was an editor for wire services in the media press. His mother’s name is Hannah. He has Irish ancestors and was raised as a Catholic. He grew up with two siblings. His family moved to the Long Island area of New York during his youth. Brian went to Chaminade School for his high school education. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963. After his military stint, he went to attend Columbia University. He played football there and earned a major in History. He then moved to Yale to study dramatic arts.

Brian has been nominated for Emmy Awards several times. He is the winner of the Tony Awards for the Lead Actor for plays like “Death of a Salesman” and “Long Day’s Journey Into Night”. He had a leading role as Hickey in the play “The Iceman Cometh”.
