Brian Dennehy was born on July 9, 1938 in Connecticut. His father, Edward Dennehy was an editor for wire services in the media press. His mother’s name is Hannah. He has Irish ancestors and was raised as a Catholic. He grew up with two siblings. His family moved to the Long Island area of New York during his youth. Brian went to Chaminade School for his high school education. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963. After his military stint, he went to attend Columbia University. He played football there and earned a major in History. He then moved to Yale to study dramatic arts.

On April 15, 2020, Brian Dennehy passed away from a heart attack.

Brian Dennehy got married to Judith Scheff in 1959. But the couple faced issues and went ahead with divorce in 1974. He got married again in 1988 and his second wife was Jennifer Arnott.

Brian Dennehy worked as a stockbroker in the mid-1970s. He then became an actor and the role that is considered his most famous is when he worked opposite Sylvester Stallone in the movie "First Blood" in the year 1982.

Brian has worked in several comedy movies like “Semi-Tough” and “Foul Play”. He appeared in the role of corrupt sheriff in the movie "Silverado" in the year 1985. During the same year, he appeared in the role of an alien in the movie "Cocoon". He was the lead actor in the movie “Best Seller” in the year 1987. In the same year, he won the award for Best Actor during the Chicago Film Festival for his movie, The Belly of an Architect. He was seen in a role as Harrison in the Australian movie “The Man from Snowy River 2” in the year 1988.

Brian is very famous for his role as Big Tom Callahan in “Tommy Boy” which was a popular comedy during the year 1995. He played the role of a superior officer in the movie “Righteous Kill” in the year 2008. In the year 2010, he was seen in “The Next Three Days”.

During the 1970s and 1980s, he was seen as a guest in various TV shows like “Miami Vice”, “Lou Grant”, “Kojak”, and "Dynasty". He was seen in the TV movie “A Rumor of War” in the role of a sergeant.
