Carmen Blanchard is the middle child of Elizabeth and Mark Blanchard-Boulbol, both of whom are professional yoga instructors. She was born on September 8, 2003. Carmen has a diverse ethnic background, including Armenian heritage from her paternal grandfather and Dutch, English, and Swedish roots from her paternal grandmother. She grew up between her older sister, Rowan Blanchard, and her younger brother, Shane Blanchard.
Her older sister, Rowan, gained widespread recognition for her role as Riley Matthews in the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World. The siblings shared a close bond during childhood and often participated in family-organized concerts, showcasing their mutual love for singing and dancing.
The family’s fun-loving environment played a role in launching the sisters’ paths into acting. During one of their informal performances, the idea arose to take five-year-old Rowan to a Disney casting call. This marked the beginning of Rowan’s acting journey, eventually leading her to a prominent role with the Disney Channel.
Inspired by her sister's success, Carmen Blanchard made her own acting debut in 2011, appearing in the first season of the television series American Horror Story. She portrayed a younger version of Violet Harmon, a teenager grappling with complex emotions after her family's move to Los Angeles. While the role was brief, Carmen's performance as Young Violet earned attention within the industry.
Carmen’s compelling presence on screen led Jeremy Piven to cast her in his 2013 short comedy film, Jeremy Piven’s Beard. In the two-minute video, she plays his fictional niece who argues that Piven’s beard makes him look less like "Arry"—a nod to his voice role in the animated film The Pirates! Band of Misfits. The skit humorously portrays the clash between audience expectations and an actor’s need to transform for new roles—illustrated when her character tries to shave Piven’s beard off in a dramatic moment.
Piven created the film as a satirical take on the challenges actors face when trying to break from typecasting. Through this experimental role, Carmen demonstrated her comedic timing and screen presence, proving herself capable of handling diverse material even at a young age.
Though Carmen has not yet accumulated as many credits as her sister Rowan, she is considered a rising talent. The sisters support each other’s aspirations and remain close, emphasizing the importance of friendship and family over competition. While comparisons between siblings in the entertainment industry are not uncommon, both have expressed their commitment to lifting each other up rather than competing.
As of the time of this writing, Carmen Blanchard is still in her teenage years. Whether acting will become her full-time career or remain a passion project is yet to be determined. Nonetheless, her early experiences and supportive environment suggest a promising future should she choose to pursue the path further.
