Carmen Blanchard is a middle daughter of Elizabeth and Mark Blanchard-Boulbol, who work as yoga instructors. She has Armenian roots from her paternal grandfather and Dutch, English and Swedish ancestry from her paternal grandmother’s side. Carmen was born on September 8, 2003, two years after her sister Rowan and a few years older than her younger brother Shane. Her older sister is mainly known for playing one of the main roles in “Girl Meets World” Disney series.
Both of the girls recall their mutual enjoyment of singing and dancing together, when they were little. Back then, their parents loved making little family concerts. During one of such “concerts” they came up with the idea of bringing a 5-year-old Rowan to the new Disney soap opera casting. Luckily, Rowan received her first episodic role and stayed at the Disney channel as one of the key actresses.
Following her sister’s example, in 2011 Carmen debuted in the first season of American Horror Story. She was playing the main teenage hero Violet, who was initially unhappy about moving to Los Angeles. Her heroine was bullied in school, while her mother was suffering from depression after the miscarriage and her stepfather felt incredibly guilty for his adultery with a young physician. Her considerably small role of Violet Harmon as a child caught Jeremy Piven’s attention and in 2013 he invited her to play a role of his niece in the short film “Jeremy Piven’s Beard”.
In this two-minute long video Carmen doesn’t want him to have a beard, because in her opinion, it makes him look less like “Arry” – the role of in the cartoon “Pirates! Going to Adventure with Scientists” Jeremy is most famous for. Piven gets frustrated, because he was growing it for the role in the movie about Mr. Selfridge. In his opinion, a complete change of style is necessary for the actor, especially, if he is playing a 1930’s character. Suddenly, his niece breaks the cup right above his head and actor is passing out. He wakes right at the moment when Carmen is trying to shave his beard off.
How did Jeremy get the idea of filming it? He just wanted to express the thought that many actors have difficulties in playing new roles, because their fans will always compare their recent films to the movie, which made them famous.
One way or another, Carmen is a rising star and doesn’t have to deal with such problems yet. Hopefully, Carmen and Rowan won’t experience pressure from being compared in their acting, which, as we know, can be very depressing and disappointing for the young talented people. Both of the girls assure each other that either way, they will always remain sisters and best friends.
Currently Carmen is only a 13-year-old teenage girl. The time will show, if acting is just for fun or it’s a career path she wants to follow. But for now we will wish her more successful projects and good luck in her new beginnings!
