Ciara Renée is an American actress, singer, and musician, born on October 19, 1990, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She attended Central Dauphin East High School before pursuing higher education in the performing arts. Renée graduated from Baldwin Wallace University in 2013 with a degree in Music Theatre, a program known for producing Broadway talent.
Renée's professional career began in earnest shortly after graduation. In September 2013, she made her Broadway debut at the Neil Simon Theatre, performing as The Witch in the musical Big Fish. Her stage presence and vocal prowess quickly gained attention within the theatre community.
In 2014, she took on the prominent role of the Leading Player in the Broadway revival of Pippin, a performance that further solidified her as a rising star in musical theatre. That same year, she appeared in the revival of Jonathan Larson’s autobiographical musical Tick, Tick... Boom!, which ran from October 20 to December 18, 2016. Renée also portrayed Mary Magdalene in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar at The Muny in St. Louis, Missouri.
Expanding her talents to television, Renée made her on-screen debut in 2014 with a guest appearance on NBC’s crime drama Law & Order: SVU. She gained further recognition in 2015 when she was cast as Kendra Saunders, also known as Hawkgirl, in The CW’s superhero series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, part of the DC Extended Universe. Her character was first introduced in the season finale of The Flash, which aired on May 20, 2015.
