David Jason is an English actor who was born on February 2, 1940, in Edmonton, London, United Kingdom to his father Arthur R White and his mother Olwen Jones. His full name is David John White but he adopted the stage name, David Jason. He spent his early years growing up with an older brother after his own twin brother died in childbirth. Jason attended Northfield Secondary Modern school and upon finishing school he wanted to pursue a career as an actor but his father encouraged him to first learn a trade.
Jason went on to train as an electrician for six years before deciding to pursue acting. Jason's acting career began in 1964 when he landed the role of Bert Bradshaw in the British soap opera "Crossroads". He went on to act in several radio comedies in the 1970s including the weekly broadcast of "Week Ending" where he portrayed satirical characters. Jason went on to become a voice actor for several children's television shows including "Danger Mouse", "The BFG", "Count Duckula", and "Victor and Hugo". He also voiced Toad in the animated children's series "The Wind in the Willows". Jason is also a qualified helicopter pilot and in 1993 he was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire. Jason married at the age of 61 to Gill Hinchcliffe on November 30, 2005, with whom he had a baby girl.
