Early Life and Education

David Jason, born David John White on February 2, 1940, in Edmonton, London, United Kingdom, is a renowned English actor. He was born to Arthur R. White, a porter, and Olwen Jones, a charwoman. Jason had a twin brother who tragically died during childbirth and was raised alongside his older brother. He attended Northfield Secondary Modern School, and despite an early interest in acting, he initially followed his father's advice to learn a trade before pursuing a career in the arts.

Training and Entry into Acting

Before entering the world of entertainment, Jason trained and worked as an electrician for six years. However, his passion for acting eventually took precedence, and he began pursuing roles in the 1960s. His acting debut came in 1964 with a part in the British soap opera Crossroads, where he played Bert Bradshaw. This marked the beginning of a long and successful career in performance.

Radio and Voice Acting Career

During the 1970s, David Jason expanded into radio comedy, becoming a regular on the satirical show Week Ending. He proved adept at comic timing and developed a reputation for portraying a variety of characters. Jason further gained popularity as a voice actor in children's television. His notable voice roles include the titular character in Danger Mouse, Count Duckula in the spinoff series of the same name, and voices in Victor and Hugo and the animated adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The BFG. One of his most beloved roles was that of Toad in the animated series The Wind in the Willows.
