DeShawn Snow is an American television personality, realtor, author, and entrepreneur who rose to prominence after appearing in the first season of Bravo's reality show The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2008.
DeShawn Snow was born on March 17, 1973, in Detroit, MI. She completed her primary schooling at Wayne Memorial High School in 1991. Immediately after her high school graduation, Snow decided to remain in her home state. She continued her studies at Michigan State University. At MSU, she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in the field of Marketing in 1995.
DeShawn was a fan favorite on the reality series, The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Everyone remembers her for her airhead charm and genuine smile.
With a significant net worth, she was probably the only housewife among those featuring in the show, that had a substantial amount of money. She appeared in the show's first season with her husband Eric Snow, a former basketball player for the NBA. However, some say she was not invited for the second season because she was too ordinary and did not create enough drama, fake or real. The series needed drama to increase the ratings.
Her fan base was sad to see DeShawn leave after the first season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She often provided a fair balance to the fireworks that went down consistently on the show. The drama aspects were the main aspects of the reality series. DeShawn provided an excellent balance to the more chaotic characters.
DeShawn married her college sweetheart, Eric, a former professional basketball player. He played with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers. The couple was blessed with three sons, Eric Javon Snow, Jarren Christopher Snow, and Darius Michael Snow. They had a happy marriage, and Eric even surprised DeShawn with an elaborate wedding-vow-renewal ceremony in their hometown of Atlanta to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their marriage. Eric spent almost a year planning the ceremony.
Unfortunately, things slowly started turning sour for the couple, and they separated after being married to each other for 12 years. Soon after the separation, Eric filed for divorce at Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia. It was a very bitter and public divorce. The news of their split-up came as a shock to the fans of the hit reality show. The couple divorced after The Real Housewives of Atlanta aired its first season. The divorce papers that were put out stated that there was no hope of reconciliation between the two. Eric also requested that the couple get joint custody of their three sons.

When the couple filed for divorce in 2010, they talked to their kids first as they would be affected by all the media coverage. There were rumors that Eric left his wife of 12 years for a pregnant side girlfriend. The pregnant mistress was Marisela Alvarado, who happened to be a former Michigan State classmate of Eric's. With his girlfriend Marisela Alvarado, Eric named their baby girl Ava Maria Snow. Some people commented that Eric's cheating ways weren't a surprise since he was always a cheater during his marriage to DeShawn and was very open and cocky with his cheating.
In the divorce settlement, Eric (with a net worth of 20 million dollars) had to part with around $8 million to DeShawn along with their Atlanta Estate. The couple shared this home with their three sons. After the divorce, DeShawn put her Atlanta mansion on sale. This was the same mansion that was shown in the first season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
DeShawn stated that the split was not easy, but she was doing her best to move on. Two years after her departure from the hit show, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, things got dramatic in her off-screen real life and marriage. She has since mentioned that she has been doing a lot of reflecting, writing, and a lot of healing. She is now doing great after the nasty split. She is excited to make positive things happen in her life. Her goal and plan are to move forward and get through any obstacles that get in her way.
In 2012, DeShawn Snow released a series of books for children: "Taking Center Stage And How To Really Shine From Within," "Keeping Up With The Joneses And How Love Is All You Need," and "The Rumor And How the Truth Sets You Free." DeShawn established herself as a children's book author in 2013, penning the Lil Shawnee book series for tween girls.
DeShawn also revamped her whole look during her devastating split and lost around 30 lbs. The difficult time after her divorce inspired her to shed some weight, and she amazed the world by losing 30 pounds. Going from a place where she thought everything was out of control to where things are much more calm has been very reassuring to her. She admits that the failure of her 12-year marriage was traumatic, but she has gotten her mind right.
DeShawn makes sure she keeps getting her message of positivity out there with frequent inspirational posts on her social media profiles. She focuses on empowering young women and helping give them the resources to do the tasks needed to succeed in life. She believes things happen for a reason, and nobody should let themselves be victims, keep on striving for better things, have better goals, and have faith in the world that these positive things will happen. DeShawn stays strong by focusing on charity work like Jarren's Island, which helps ADHD/autistic kids.
She has created several non-profit foundations to help kids, including the DeShawn Snow Foundation. Her fans continue to support her because they have seen how strong a woman she has become even after she went through the trauma of a messy divorce. She didn't deserve any of the bad things that happened to her, but she still was able to turn the negatives into a positive path in her life.
