Eiza González is a Mexican actress and singer, born on January 30, 1990, in Caborca, Sonora, Mexico. She is the only daughter of Glenda Reyna, a former Mexican model and businesswoman. Eiza experienced a significant personal loss at the age of twelve when her father, Carlos González, passed away in a motorcycle accident.
González attended two bilingual private schools in Mexico City: Edron Academy and the American School Foundation. After completing high school, she enrolled in Televisa's renowned acting school, Centro de Educación Artística (CEA), where she studied acting for two years.
While still attending CEA, González was cast in the lead role of the Mexican teen telenovela Lola, Érase Una Vez, which premiered on February 26, 2007. The series, an adaptation inspired by the German film Mädchen, Mädchen, gained widespread popularity and marked her breakthrough in the entertainment industry. Due to the demands of filming, she left CEA during her last year to fully commit to the project.
Following the show's success, González embarked on a national promotional tour throughout Mexico, performing songs featured in the series and further solidifying her public profile as both an actress and singer.
After gaining notable recognition in her home country, González began expanding her career to the United States. One of her most prominent early roles in American television came in 2014 when she was cast as Santanico Pandemonium in the television adaptation From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, produced by Robert Rodriguez. The series aired for three seasons before concluding in 2016.
González made her major Hollywood film debut in 2017, portraying Monica "Darling" Castello in Edgar Wright's critically acclaimed action film Baby Driver. Her performance helped introduce her to a wider global audience and opened up additional opportunities in the film industry.
She was next cast in the role of Nyssiana, a cybernetically enhanced assassin, in the 2019 cyberpunk action film Alita: Battle Angel, directed by Robert Rodriguez and produced by James Cameron. The film further demonstrated her ability to take on diverse and high-energy roles in science fiction and action genres.
