Gustaf Skarsgård is a Swedish actor who was born on November 12, 1980, in Södermalm, Stockholm, Sweden. He was born to a Swedish actor named Stellan Skarsgård and his mother My Skarsgård who worked as a physician. Skarsgård has five brothers and sisters, and two half-brothers. At the age of nine, Skarsgård made his film debut in the 1989 Swedish film "Codename Coq Rouge". He went on to attend Teaterhögskolan in Stockholm from 199 to 2003. Upon graduation, Skarsgård joined the Royal Dramatic Theatre and Stockholm City Theatre. Skarsgård earned the award for Best Leading Actor for this part in the film Förortsungar.
Skarsgård truly became an international star in 2012 when he joined the cast of the History Channel's series "Vikings" where he played Floki, the shipbuilder. Skarsgård met and fell in love with actress Hanna Alström and the pair dated from 1999 to 2005. Among his other awards is the European Film Academy's Shooting Stars Award in 2017, and a Guldbagge Award for "Kidz In Da Hood". Skarsgård is also known for his roles in the films "Evil" in 2003, "The Way Back" in 2010, and "Kon-Tiki" in 2012. Skarsgård also appeared in the second season of the HBO series "Westworld" as Karl Strand.
