Helene Joy is known as an Australian-Canadian actress. She is most famous for her role in Murdoch Mysteries.
Helene Joy was born on October 21, 1978, in Perth, Australia. Helene started acting when she was in high school, she attended Kewdale Senior High School in Australia. After completing her schooling, she went on a tour of Europe along with a youth theater company. Helene then studied theater as her major subject when she attended Curtin University. She obtained her acting diploma from the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth. She won the “Leslie Anderson Award for Best Performer at Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

Helene got her first break in the TV industry at the age of 21 when she got a role in the 1996 Australian TV series, “Snowy River: The McGregor Saga”. She then started getting roles other TV series like “Water Rats” (1996-1997), “Big Sky” (1997), and “Stingers” (1999). She then went to Vancouver and got a role on a Canadian TV show called “First Wave” in the year 2000.
In 2001, she played a very important character in the famous TV series “The Outer Limits”. In 2002, she appeared in “The Chris Isaak Show” and the “Twilight Zone”. She appeared in the CBC TV series “An American in Canada" where she played Judy Surgick, who was the lead character of the show. In 2003, that show was a nominee for the “Gemini Award for Best Ensemble Performance Comedy Series/Program”. Although the show didn't win the award, the nomination put her among the very best of the TV industry.

In 2005, Helene acted in a feature film called “Desolation Sound”. She later had a supporting role in a TV movie called “The Murdoch Mysteries: Under the Dragon’s Tail”. She then moved to Toronto and had roles in “This Is Wonderland” in 2005 and “ReGenesis”, which aired in 2006.
In Christmas of 2007, she performed in the Nutcracker Ballet, which was a musical film version of the same name. She had also guest appearances in programs such as “Heartland” and “Rookie Blue” in 2011, She also did some voice acting in the TV series. “Yolky in The Eggs” in 2004. She had a role in “Pearlie” in 2008 and a role in “Detentionaire” in 2012. Helene has also been very active in theatre. In an interview, Helene said that, despite the fact that she was getting paid six figures for her roles in TV, she liked to save as much as possible to secure her financial future against a possible economic crisis, "My income has certainly risen in the past five years and I'm earning six figures now, still living the way I did when I had nothing, and saving like a mad woman. I know this may not last, and I'd still like to be able to work as an actor if the economy goes from bad to worse."
