Ivana Baquero is a Spanish actress who was born on June 11, 1994, in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. She was born to Ivan Baquero and Julia Macias. Baquero went to the American School of Barcelona where she learned English, Spanish, and Catalan. Baquero graduated in 2012. Her acting career began when she was just eight-years-old with several small roles in films like "Fragile", "Romasanta" and "Rottweiler". Her biggest role yet came when she was picked out of 1,000 actresses to play Ofelia in director Guillermo del Toro's critically-acclaimed film "Pan's Labyrinth" in 2006. The film premiered at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival before its release on January 19, 2007.
"Pan's Labirynth" went on to win multiple awards including three Academy Awards, three BAFTA Awards, the Saturn Awards for Best International Film, the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form, and Best Performance by a Younger Actor. Baquero went on to play the title role in the John Connolly horror film "The New Daughter" co-starring Kevin Costner. She went on to appear as Eretria in the MTV television show "The Shannara Chronicles" in 2015. The series was based on the Shannara novels by Terry Brooks and premiered in January of 2016.
