Jim Cantore is known as an American meteorologist and TV personality. He is most famous for his appearances on the Weather Channel.
James Cantore was born on February 16, 1964. A native of Beacon Falls, Connecticut, Jim was brought up in White River Junction, Vermont. Cantore graduated from Lyndon State College in 1986.
The Weather Channel gave Jim Cantore his first job out of college and he has worked with the channel ever since. In spite of the fact that he was not with the network since its beginning, Cantore has become one of the most well-known meteorologists on television. Cantore has been commended for his ability to break down complex weather events into terms that the normal viewer can understand. Cantore is frequently chosen to go to report on weather events as these reports result in high ratings at TWC.
Though Cantore is best known for his live field coverage of major weather events such as Hurricanes Ike, Gustav, Katrina, Isabel, Rita, Andrew, Floyd, Mitch, Bonnie, Irene, and Sandy, his contributions span well beyond severe weather field reporting. His early work at TWC included developing the audience's favorite Fall Foliage Forecast. He has reported from events such as the Space Shuttle Discovery launch, the "Winter X Games," PGA tournaments, and NFL games.
Jim is a member of both the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. He holds the AMS Television Seal of Approval. He also received the NOAA-David S. Johnson Award in 2002 for his innovative use of environmental satellite technology.
Besides live reporting for TWC, Cantore also serves as the storyteller on the TWC series Storm Stories. He is featured at the start of the ECHL's Stockton Thunder passageway video saying "Hi, this is meteorologist Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel; a unique climate consultative has been issued for the Central Valley—a 100% shot of thunder." After NBC Universal acquired The Weather Channel in 2008, Cantore has occasionally filled in for Al Roker on The Today Show. He was also in London providing weather updates for NBC during the 2012 Summer Olympics. Algis Laukaitis of the Lincoln Journal Star has alluded to Cantore as a "stone star of meteorologists."

On January 28, 2014, while doing a live report at the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, Cantore was charged by a student named Colin Marcelli. Cantore saw the charge coming and kneed Marcelli in the stomach. Marcelli instantly ran off. Cantore never broke his train of thought or appeared distracted amid the occurrence. A recording of the incident has picked up upwards of two million views on YouTube.
Jim Cantore met Tamra Cantore at TWC. Jim said that his love with Tamra was love at first sight. He proposed to her during a snowstorm in Colorado and they were married in Vermont in 1990. They had a son and a daughter during their marriage. Tamra had Parkinson’s disease and their children have fragile X syndrome. He became aware of her disease after their children were born.
Jim got separated from Tamra in 2007. Many sources confirm that Jim was having an affair with his co-worker, Alexandra Steele, and that is what brought his marriage to an end. There are also reports that his girlfriend is Rae Lin D’alie. There are no details as to who she is and when they were dating. Jim did not date Alexandra after his divorce, which put a lot of pressure on the truth of the rumors. Jim never said he was dating or seeing Alexandra.
It was reported that it was Jim who initiated the separation. This separation affected his family negatively and incurred a bad name for him. It was rumored that he was overwhelmed by the special needs of his children and Tamra and wanted to have a break from everything. There were rumors about Stephanie Abrams dating Jim. They both appeared together on the Weather Channel.
