Joe Scarborough is an American television host and former United States Representative who was born on April 9, 1963, in Atlanta, Georgia. Scarborough spent his childhood growing up in Atlanta with his parents Mary Joanna and George Francis Scarborough. He went on to graduate from Pensacola Catholic High School in Pensacola, Florida. In 1985, Scarborough earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alabama. He also obtained a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida College of Law in 1990. While he was in university, Scarborough wrote and produced music with his band, Dixon Mills.
The group recorded the album "Calling on Robert E. Lee". Scarborough was admitted to The Florida State Bar in 1991 and worked as an attorney in Pensacola. He had his most high-profile case in 1993 when he represented Michael F. Griffin in the murder of doctor David Gunn. That same year, Scarborough helped lead the fight against a proposed 65 percent property tax increase in the City of Pensacola. In 1994, Scarborough won the Republican Party primary for the state of Florida's 1st congressional district. Scarborough received several awards while he was in Congress including the "Friend of the Taxpayer Award" from Americans for Tax Reform. He married Melanie Hinton in 1986 and the pair had two sons together before divorcing in 1999. He later remarried to his co-host of the morning show, Mika Brzezinski.
