Joseph Thomas Logano was born on May 24, 1990, in Middletown, Connecticut. He is the second child of Deborah and Tom Logano. His older sister, Danielle, along with his mother, Deborah, were accomplished figure skaters. Although Joey did not come from a racing family, he developed his passion for driving at a young age. His interest was sparked on his father's farm, where he would often drive trucks. This early exposure laid the groundwork for his budding racing career.
Joey’s racing talent became evident early on. At the age of 7, he won a quarter midget race in the Eastern Grand National circuit. By age 9, he claimed victory in the Legends Series event in 2000. In 2001, he won the Bandolero Bandits division races at both Atlanta Motor Speedway and Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Remarkably, Joey became the youngest driver to compete at the Pro Legends level at the age of 12. His driving skills caught the attention of NASCAR legend Mark Martin, who praised him as an exceptional talent.
As Logano matured, he began racing without age restrictions. He joined the ASA Late Model Series and competed successfully against adult drivers. At 14, he won the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series, establishing himself as a force in the stock car racing community. His progression continued as he moved up through the racing tiers, earning recognition for both his talent and maturity behind the wheel.
In 2008, Joey debuted in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (now Xfinity Series) and quickly made history by becoming the youngest driver to win a NASCAR race. At 18, he won the Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway. The following year, he set another record by winning the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the Sprint Cup Series, becoming the youngest winner in that division at age 19.
Between 2008 and 2012, he drove the No. 20 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing, during which he secured two wins and recorded 41 top-10 finishes. His consistent performances demonstrated his capability amid fierce competition.
In 2013, Joey Logano joined Team Penske, driving the No. 22 Ford Fusion in the NASCAR Cup Series and occasionally participating in the Xfinity Series with the Ford Mustang. His career further accelerated in 2014, a standout year when he captured five victories. Notably, he won races at Texas Motor Speedway, Richmond Raceway (in dramatic fashion), Bristol’s August Irwin Tools Night Race, Kansas Speedway, and New Hampshire’s Loudon track. These significant victories highlighted his growing dominance in the sport.
Joey was also the first NASCAR driver to compete across NASCAR's three national series—Cup, Xfinity, and Truck—cementing his reputation as a versatile and accomplished driver. His strong performance led to a multi-year contract extension with Team Penske through 2018, reflecting the team's confidence in his abilities.
Outside of racing, Joey Logano maintains an active personal life. He became engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Brittany Baca, in 2013, and they married on December 13, 2014. The couple has known each other since childhood. In his leisure time, Joey is an active user of social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, where he connects with fans and shares updates from both his racing and personal life.
