Early Life and Family Background
Joseph Thomas Logano was born on May 24, 1990, in Middletown, Connecticut. He is the second child of Deborah and Tom Logano. His older sister, Danielle, along with his mother, Deborah, were accomplished figure skaters. Although Joey did not come from a racing family, he developed his passion for driving at a young age. His interest was sparked on his father's farm, where he would often drive trucks. This early exposure laid the groundwork for his budding racing career.

Racing Beginnings and Early Success
Joey’s racing talent became evident early on. At the age of 7, he won a quarter midget race in the Eastern Grand National circuit. By age 9, he claimed victory in the Legends Series event in 2000. In 2001, he won the Bandolero Bandits division races at both Atlanta Motor Speedway and Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Remarkably, Joey became the youngest driver to compete at the Pro Legends level at the age of 12. His driving skills caught the attention of NASCAR legend Mark Martin, who praised him as an exceptional talent.
Progression Through the Ranks
As Logano matured, he began racing without age restrictions. He joined the ASA Late Model Series and competed successfully against adult drivers. At 14, he won the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series, establishing himself as a force in the stock car racing community. His progression continued as he moved up through the racing tiers, earning recognition for both his talent and maturity behind the wheel.
NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series
In 2008, Joey debuted in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (now Xfinity Series) and quickly made history by becoming the youngest driver to win a NASCAR race. At 18, he won the Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway. The following year, he set another record by winning the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the Sprint Cup Series, becoming the youngest winner in that division at age 19.
Between 2008 and 2012, he drove the No. 20 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing, during which he secured two wins and recorded 41 top-10 finishes. His consistent performances demonstrated his capability amid fierce competition.
