Among the many controversies that John is said to be involved in, he was once in the media for attacking women who use God's name while making love. John expressed his disgust at girls and women who mention God's name, calling it a "filthy" and "one of the most sinful" ways one can use the Lord's name. If it had been up to John, he would have made sure each one of them had seen the gates of the prison and not been allowed to mingle with the general public, as he believes this to be an improper use of God's name. On this matter, John Hagee Ministries came out to defend the Pastor, saying that it was mere propaganda and fabrication written by websites that seek attention and intended to humor the public.
When the Ebola outbreak occurred in 2014, John became embroiled in another controversy, claiming that it was God's judgment on the people of the earth. According to John's statements, God's wrath was due to then-President Barack Obama, who was not as supportive of the people of Israel as he should have been.
The Ebola outbreak affected the western part of Africa and claimed several lives. John made clear his opinion on the then-president. While addressing the Zionist Organization of America after being awarded for their continued support to Israel, John claimed that the executive branch of the American government was in the hands of an individual who did not have much regard for the Semitic community in the entire American history.
As previously mentioned, John is the CEO of John Hagee Ministries. This ministry is devoted to fulfilling Jesus Christ's command to go into the world and make disciples of all people by saving the lost and empowering and encouraging followers of Christ. John's wife, Diana, is also actively involved in the ministry, playing a pivotal role. She coordinates events of great importance to the ministry, the church, schools, and Christians United for Israel. John and Diana's son, Matt, and his wife, Kendal Hagee, are among the 20,000 members pastored by John. The two also play critical roles, with Matt being an executive pastor in the church and the sixth generation to carry the family mantle.
Concerning divorce, John once remarked in one of his sermons that it is against Christian belief to get a divorce or an abortion. Contrary to the Pastor's take on divorce matters, John himself got divorced from his first wife, Martha Downing. John's divorce contributed to his many controversies and the incident was quite scandalous. His divorce acted as a destined path, as he disassociated himself from the Trinity Church and formed the Cornerstone Church.
The controversial Pastor is an active member of social media platforms, with a massive following of around 300,000 followers on Twitter alone and more than 7,000 tweets on the same platform. You can find John on his verified Twitter account with the handle @PastorJohnHagee. On Twitter, John portrays Christian values of spreading the Gospel to lead the lost to Christ. In a recent tweet, John expressed that the thing that matters most in this life and the next is God's approval.
