Leland Blane Chapman is an American bounty hunter and bail bondsman. He and his father, Duane Dog Chapman, gained wide recognition through their reality show, "Dog the Bounty Hunter" which was canceled on May 21, 2012, after 8 seasons.
Leland Blane was the second son of Duane Chapman Sr. and La Fonda Sue Darnall - his first wife. At the age of 7, Leland's father was sentenced to prison, which nearly immediately led to a divorce for his parents. As he has mentioned in numerous interviews over the years, he wasn't able to see him, until the age of 8 when Duane got visitation rights to see Leland and his brother, Duane Lee. In fact, Blane admits that he used to consider his stepfother as his biological father for nearly a year during that period. As a child he lived in Texas though his teen years were spent in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he ran away from home and joined a gang. Soon, he found himself in foster care as his mother was unable to control him and at the age of 13, he was placed in a boys care home. In 1995, Leland graduated high school, braking a family record, since none of his siblings had achieved that. What's worth mentioning here, is that he carried his oldest son, Dakota, as he walked in the graduation line.
Along with his graduation, Leland started working for his father at Da Kine Bail Bonds, the family bail bonds company. As it was a family business, more members of the family were involved in it, such as Duane Lee Chapman (Leland's brother), Beth Chapman (Dad DOGs current wife) and his half-sister, "Baby" Lyssa Chapman. One thing led to another, and Leland soon found himself starring in "Dog the Bounty Hunter" for 8 whole season, until the show was cancelled in May 21, 2012. A year later, in 2013, Duane Dog Chapman and his wife, Beth started their own series called "Dog and Beth: On the Hunt" on CMT but that show also ended in August 2015. Now, while the family business is still active Leland also tries to expand his activity by helping other similar businesses all around the country.
One of the most notable moments throughout the renowned bounty hunter's career was when he was arrested in Mexico, for doing his job; yes, you guessed it right! Bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico. That bust and the way that the story evolved, was the main reason that the Chapman family got a lucrative television deal.
As for his personal background, Leland Chapman married Maui Chapman in 1995 and had his first son the same year when he graduated. The pair got separated, in 2005. When Leland was in prison, Maui filed for a divorce stating irreconcilable differences as the reason. It was said that confinement in prison was a big advantage for the case. But, by the time the hearing started, Leland got out of prison and the advantage of Maui’s case was broken. Leland stated that his wife abandoned him when he was in prison and again filed for a separation stating irreconcilable differences. They did not have a prenuptial agreeement and thus, it was an ugly fight. She was given the custody of the kids as her husband was proved to be unfit for being a father. He however was given visitation rights. There were rumors that Leland cheated on Maui and kept an ongoing affair. The details about his secret girlfriend and other details though have never been revealed and thus, it was considered to be just a cooked up story.
His marital status is something that has been a confidential - not to mentio controversial - part of his personal life. There are no details about whether he is married or not. Some say that he has been married many times and some state that he was married only to Maui and after the marriage ended, he did not make any attempts known to the public, in order to rebuild his life. Some people state that he did not date anyone after that, but there are rumors that he is in love with Lynette. The last name of Lynette was not mentioned. There are no evidences of their marital relationship or how close they are, in the relationship. However it was rumored that both are engaged. Yet, the only announcement that Leland ever made was the birth of his son in 2010. There were rumors that he got married in 2010, but, there are no evidences to prove it. When they met each other, Lynette was in the army, according to one source. There is no evidence to prove that he was in a relationship with Lynette, before he got separated and whether the reason for the separation was his secret relationship.
Lynette never talked about her boyfriend, their relationship and the rumors about her being the reason behind Leland's divorce. In 2008, the rumor mill spit out some new rumors, that he was dating Jennifer Grey. Neither Jennifer nor Leland talked about this rumor, though it was considered to be a fake one, by many people. Leland said that he was dating someone and was not ready to reveal her identity and later, the rumors about Leland and Grey, surfaced so although it seemed as a hunting coincidence, it was never confirmed nor disaproved hence all that the public was left with was speculations. In 2009, there were rumors about his dating life, again. This time it was said that the famous bounty hunter was dating Koryn who was surprisingly very young for him. In general, judging by his dating-life information it must not be a coincidence that most of his lovers' names are mentioned without a last name. He never reveals the dating status and even when he does, he would omit the last name. All we know for the time being is that today Leland is married to a beautiful girl named Jamie Pilar and together they seem to having the time of their lives.
