Upbringing
He was born to Roberto and Judy Harris who hailed from Panama. He had a rough life as the son of immigrants in the city of Harlem.
Music Career
He is the owner of the Beat Factory studio located in the Bronx. Before starting the music career, he was involved in real estate industry. He is an entrepreneur and music director. His frequent appearances in Love & Hip Hop: New York along with his beautiful wife Yandy Smith gained him a lot of fame and attention.
Mendeecees frequently engaged with children and teenagers to help and motivate them to hunt for better opportunities and overcome their huddles and obstacles.
Mendeecees learned from his days of childhood in housing projects by St. Nicholas housing. He used his experiences to earn a great name for his dedicated work. The qualities of an entrepreneur were seen in him. He had career success in both real estate entrepreneur and music manager. He now concentrates and focuses on the music company he started, creating beats with artists.
Legal Troubles
He went to jail because of federal drug trafficking charges but he was temporarily released on bail. Mendeecees Harris pleaded guilty for the narcotics conspiracy. According to the documents from the court; his brother was also involved into the same conspiracy. The drugs including the cocaine and heroin, were shipped to go to Rochester and brothers were part of the conspiracy. Mendeecees and his brother were found guilty in supplying cocaine and heroin and were in jail for 8 long years along with penalty of $171000 which lead him to give away his profit from Love & Hip Hop and also his R8 Audi was sold off.
The drug case was a second legal battle for Mendeecees. Harris was previously found guilty of having sexually assaulted a teenage girl in New Jersey. To settle the plea agreement, Harris had agreed to forfeit 2.5 million dollars in assets which included the money he got from his appearances on Love & Hip Hop: New York.
Mendeecees Harris had been in federal jail for 8 years imprisonment for drug trafficking worth over $25 million. Mendeecees Harris tried to get a lesser sentence by telling the judge that having his children had helped him to become a new man and start his life again. To petition for lowering the punishment, he gathered his whole family and kids and let them know how much he cared for them.
The Harris family tried their best to petition for early release from imprisonment, but sadly the Judge didn’t agree to this and the petition was denied. The family had hopes for punishment decreasing to 5 years but it didn’t. Mendeecees had come up with different excuses like one that he was just acting as a middleman passing on drugs from one person to other. He and his lawyer claimed that he was just a small fish in the great sea of drug dealing of a great sea, but it was late as the imprisonment was already announced.

He celebrated his last Christmas with them, thanked them and told them that he would be back soon. This wasn’t the first time Harris was a part of accusation so his family were doubtful that he would get off easy.
Yandy Smith was left alone to look after the four young ones. A woman named Sam Wallace was the biological mother of Lil Mendeecees and had put out allegations against Yandy for not being a good mother and she asked for custody of Lil Mendeecees which was denied by the court.
Pegged as a Rat
While he was in jail, people started to claim that he was snitching on other people to gain favor with the police. When asked by VH1 if he snitched on rappers Vado and Juelz Santana. Mendeecees VH1, “I didn’t know them when they were in the streets. He [Vado] was never selling no drugs, he continued, [the fact that] people believe everything they read is sad. The plea deal had always been ten years but the judge said, I’ll give you eight years. Ten was never on the table. I’ve been shot twice and stabbed thirteen times and people don’t know I really been out here.” I’m too old for that, I’m just trying to raise my kids, make some money, and live.”
When talking about his oldest son Lil Mendeecees and how his son feels about him being in jail, he said “It breaks my heart that it breaks his heart.”
While behind bars, he continued to pursue music. Since he had a lot of time on his hands, he decided to really focus on making music. He also tried to reach out to Yandy anytime he could. He would send her pictures on their anniversary to remind her of their love.
Personal Life
He got married to Yandy Smith in 2015 and the couple had two children together named Skylar and Omere. He had two sons from a previous relationship. The couple first met while they were both in the same industry of music. Their love story was broadcasted on the set of Love & Hip Hop: New York. Their marriage was a unique one because there was a live telecast of their marriage ceremony that took place on Memorial Day Weekend.
Mendeecees Harris, wife was inspired to go to College because of the 90s hit show, A Different World. Yandy graduated from Howard University and then moved to California where she started working with Warner Bros Music.
The first artist of Yandy’s was Jim Jones and after he just left Def Jam when he had issues with Jay-Z who was named the vice president of the record label. The experience she gained allowed her to have enough appeal to get a new job with Violator Music Management. Yandy was able to reach to the position of top executives under 30 lists
