<a href="/biography/morris-chestnut">Morris Lamont Chestnut</a> is an <a href="/biography/morris-chestnut">actor</a> and producer from the United States. He rose to fame after portraying Ricky in the 1991 film Boyz n the Hood. He has starred in feature films and television shows, notably the NBC TV series The Enemy Within, in which he played FBI Agent Will Keaton. Since 2025, he has starred as Dr. John Watson in the CBS series Watson.

<a href="/biography/morris-chestnut">Morris Lamont Chestnut</a> was born on January 01, 1969, in California. His parents are Shirley and Morris Chestnut. He graduated from Richard Gahr High School and then went on to study finance and drama at a California state university.

Morris is a <a href="/biography/morris-chestnut">film actor</a> known for his roles in ''Like Mike'', ''The Perfect Holiday'', and many other movies. "Freddy's nightmare" was his first professional acting role. After his first featured film, acting role in "Boyz n the Hood," Chestnut got many roles in high-budget studio films. His career started to rise soon after "Boyz n the Hood." Morris has said that his character 'Lance' from the movie The Best Man Holiday is pretty close to Morris' real personality in terms of priorities in his life.

He was the <a href="/biography/morris-chestnut">winner</a> of the annual Madden Bowl video game competition in 1998. As Lance Sullivan, a football player on the eve of his wedding, Chestnut played alongside <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taye_Diggs">Taye Diggs</a> and <a href="/biography/nia-long">Nia Long</a> in the 1999 film The Best Man. He got married to his wife, Pam Byse, in 1995, and together they have two children. He said that the main reason for the success of his marital life is that Pam has always trusted him and never paid attention to any of the rumors about him having an affair. He said that a spouse being a sex symbol is not easy to deal with, but Pam handles it gracefully.

Morris appreciates his mom a lot for all her efforts in raising him. She used to take him to football practice after working all day and driving 20 miles away from work. She made sure that Morris learned to value education and made enough money to send him to college.

After graduating from college, Morris' first job was as a bank teller. Even at that time, Morris was already dreaming of becoming an actor, which nobody else knew about. Morris admits to having been sleeping with Dante's mother, and he believed that Dante was his son at the time until a paternity test proved otherwise. He helped raise him for three years only to discover that he was not his son. After years have passed, a 30-year-old Dante is still bitter about the situation. Reportedly, he went on a Facebook rant saying that Morris changed after becoming famous and that his wife Pam made him turn his back on his first family. "Once he was Ricky and got his recognition, he stopped being my father! I started another life with a new wife and kids, and I'm nonexistent. You know what it does mentally to grow up reaching out to your father, and the only way you can see or hear your pops is in movies, TV, billboards, etc." wrote Dante in his Facebook post.

In a 2016 interview on The Breakfast Club, Morris publicly addressed the paternity rumor, reiterating that a paternity test showed Dante is not his biological son.

Pam has never spoken publicly about the rumors or Dante.

After all that they've been through, the couple has been deemed one of Hollywood's most successful and loved couples. "We've been fortunate and blessed enough to grow together," explained Morris on how they've been able to last together. "Everyone is different at 28 than they were at 22, and everyone is different at 35 than they were at 28. You can either grow apart or grow together, and we've been fortunate to grow together."

As far as politics go, Morris has always been fascinated by black history and black leaders. He was the <a href="/biography/morris-chestnut">host</a> of February's Potential of Us 5K Run/Walk in the Baldwin Hills area of Los Angeles.

When asked what attracted him to the Potential of Us campaign, he replied, "Black history is significant to me because coming up, I was looking at our black historical leaders as inspiration. People who blazed the trail. I am always trying to follow them and see how they live. With the Potential of Us program, I feel like I'm <a href="/biography/morris-chestnut">part</a> of a movement. And it comes right when I am working on developing a character from the 70s I'm excited to play."

His kids claim him to be a strict father who strives to bring up responsible children for their kids.
