Nasim Pedrad, born on November 18, 1981, in Tehran, Iran, is an Iranian-American actress and comedian best known for her work on "Saturday Night Live" (SNL). She is the daughter of Parviz Pedrad and Arasteh Amani. In 1984, her family emigrated to the United States, settling in Irvine, California.
Pedrad is the older sister of comedy writer Nina Pedrad. She attended University High School in Irvine before enrolling at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. She graduated in 2003 and was also a performer with the UCLA Spring Sing Company during her college years.
