Nonso Anozie was born on May 28, 1979, in Camden, London, United Kingdom. He spent much of his childhood in Lincoln, England. Of Igbo descent, he traces his roots to Nigeria and identifies with Black British ethnicity. Anozie holds British nationality.
He trained at the prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama in London, graduating in 2002. That same year, he became the youngest actor to play the title role in Shakespeare's "King Lear."
