Angela Patricia Janiot Martirena is a native of Colombia born in the year 1963, in Bucaramanga the capital city of the department of Santander, Colombia. Historically the city of Bucaramanga has been one of the cities with the lowest rate of unemployment in the country. Patricia Janiot's father is an Argentinean Football player .who played for the Atlético Bucaramanga, and his wife Zunilda Martirena. Patricia married Miguel Yelos San martin and they have two children Tadeo and Tabata. Patricia resides in Atlanta, Georgia at present. Atlanta is the capital of and the most populous city in the U.S. state of Georgia.
Patricia Janiot is president of the Colombianitos foundation, which helps children who are victims of the Colombian armed conflict. Janiot studied at the Universidad de la Sabana situated in Bogota, where she received her bachelor’s degree in journalism and social communications. The Universidad de La Sabana (Spanish: Universidad de La Sabana), is a Colombian private higher education institution founded in 1979. It is located in the municipality of Chía, 7 km north of Bogotá. She also studied broadcasting, radio, and television production at the Colegio Superior de Telecomunicaciones situated in Bogotal. She speaks both English and Spanish fluently. She got her degree in English at Cambridge University. The University of Cambridge is the second-oldest university in the English-speaking world and is regarded as one of the world's top five universities.

Initially, Patricia took up interior designing as her career. But she was more interested in journalism due to her ethnic background that took her to various places in America and Europe. She did an internship in journalism and began her career at CNN in the year 1992. Cable News Network (CNN) is an American basic cable and satellite television news channel owned by the Turner Broadcasting System, a division of Time Warner. CNN was founded in 1980 by American media proprietor Ted Turner as a 24-hour cable news channel. Upon its launch, CNN was the first television channel to provide 24-hour news coverage,and was the first all-news television channel in the United States. So she thought CNN is her best platform to prove herself as a journalist. At the beginning, she was the anchor for the show Noticiero Telemundo CNN, which was a very famous show in CNN and it has been widely seen by people in the state. She later shifted to CNN International as anchor.

When CNN en Espanol, CNN's 24-hour Spanish language television and radio news channel which broadcasts to the United States of America and Latin America was launched in 1997, she was made the lead news anchor and she become widely popular among the people and news readers as CNN en Español features newscasts throughout the day. CNN en Español provides live coverage of some news events, and in 2016 carried the Spanish-language feed for Major League Baseball postseason games carried by sister network TBS.She was also the weekly columnist at CNN Radio en Espanol and serves additionally as the advisor to both the general manager and the vice president of the network. Awards and Recognitions
Janiot has received many awards in her career that spans over two decades including the Golden Mike Award for the best newscast given by the Radio &Television News Association of Southern California in the year 1990, an Emmy nomination(an American award that recognizes excellence in the television industry, and corresponds to the Oscar (for film), the Tony Award (for theatre), and the Grammy Award (for music), and the Simon Bolivar award in Columbia for investigative journalism, recognise activities of outstanding merit. She also featured in the Hispanic Media 100 in the year 2001 and recently was bestowed with the Spanish language Television Industry Award (INTE) in the Best Female News Personality category. It brings real proud to her as a journalist.
Janiot has covered the Latin American countries reporting on all major world events including the elections in Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Mexico. She has reported on the papal tours in Latin America, the Ibero American summits, and the September 11 attacks. She has interviewed eminent world leaders like Fidel Castro,was a Cuban communist revolutionary and politician who governed the Republic of Cuba as Prime Minister from 1959 to 1976 and then as President from 1976 to 2008 and Augusto Pinochet, was a Chilean general, politician and the dictator of Chile between 1973 and 1990; he remained the Commander-in-Chief of the Chilean Army until 1998. He was also president of the Government Junta of Chile between 1973 and 1981. Janiot elected and worked as president of the non-profit outfit Colombianitos, she renders aid to the affected children in war torn Colombia. She involved in social activities as well for the welfare of the country and people that is being recognized.
