Preston Roberts was an American woodsman, environmentalist, and educator known for his role on the History Channel’s television series Mountain Men. He was born in 1957 in Brevard, North Carolina, and spent much of his youth exploring the Pisgah National Forest. This early connection with nature deeply influenced his later work and lifestyle.

In 1975, Preston met Kathleen DuPont McGuire, who would later become his wife. The couple built a life rooted in self-sufficiency and mutual respect for nature. Together, they raised three sons and celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in 2015.
Preston Roberts dedicated twenty-five years to teaching in the Wilkes County School System, where he was known for inspiring students with his deep respect for nature and traditional heritage. Outside of his professional work, Roberts dedicated much of his time to activities that reflected his values. He crafted knives, hunted, fished, and raised horses and chickens.
