Rich Dollaz is famous for being a music executive who has done most of his work in the hip hop industry.
Rich Dollaz on his real name Richard Trowers was born on August 4, 1971 in Waterbury Connecticut. He grew up while he was under the heavy influence of black music. His family would play records of soul and funk when he was a child. Getting exposed to that type of music would help him in his future career path.
As a young boy, Rich Dollaz witnessed the emergence of hip hop into the mainstream. In the 80s, hip hop and rap was starting to grow its fan base as more and more artists that got their chance on radio and television. No one paid attention to rap or even considered to be a real genre of music until the boom that occurred in the 80s.
His music career began at Bad Boy Records as in intern for Puff Diddy. After gaining his first bits of experience, he soon he started to help the career of numerous artists and bands. Rich was a big part of the “golden age” of hip hop. The early 90s to the mid 90s is considered hip hop’s “golden age” because that’s when being a hip hop artist required undeniable talent and skill. You had to be a quality act in order to stay in the hip hop game. Rich Dollaz and Bad Boy would put themselves on the map during the tail end of the golden age. They would help the genre integrate themselves into the mainstream scene as the casual audience started accepting hip hop as popular music.
Rich Dollaz had a hand in helping many musical artists in their careers but the one thing that he most known for involves a love scandal with a woman named Moniece Slaughter. Moniece and Rich Dollaz were part of a VH1 TV show called Love & Hip Hop New York. In 2015, Rich Dollaz and Moniece had a relationship that blew up in flames. The break up was so heated with anger and disdain, neither cared about keeping their composure. Some couples wanted to keep their dealings private especially when things go bad. They’d rather keep the fights and disagreements within a private space but Rich Dollaz and Moniece didn’t care about expressing their displeasure with each other in public.
The split up couple traded attacks at each other publicly on Twitter. The public and media got to witness first hand the problems that the two were having. Moneice’s statements crafted a negative picture of Rich Dollaz. She claimed that he was a neglectful boyfriend that didn’t pay any attention to her. Rich Dollaz was irked by the claim because it makes him look like a bad partner. He wasn’t happy that Moniece would say things to hurt his attractiveness for a future potential mate.
Valentine’s Day is a sacred holiday for women because it’s when they get to be loved and show love to their partner. Moneice blasted Rich Dollaz for not even getting her a gift on Valentine’s Day. Moniece got over the relationship really quick as she started to date somebody else shortly after the split. She was insisted that they were just dating and not in a relationship yet but her new love already appreciates her more than Rich Dollaz ever did.

During his time at Bad Boys Records, Rich Dollaz worked with recording artists like Cassie, Yung Joc, Cheri Dennis, Gorilla Zoe and Danity Kane.
In the beginning of his time with Bad Boy, Rich Dollaz was working for their promotional and marketing department. Rich Dollaz met with Ryan Leslie who was dating the pretty model and aspiring R&B singer Cassie. Cassie had a unique ethnic look because of her African American and Filipino background. Rich Dollaz knew that it would be easy to market her great looks and soft voice to the hip hop masses. Ryan Leslie composed and made the famous hit Me & U for Cassie, a song that transformed her career overnight. Shortly after the release of the big hit, Cassie signed a contract with Bad Boys Records.
Ryan and Rich Dollaz duplicated the same magic for an artist named Cheri Dennis. Ryan wrote and composed I Love You while Rich helped with the release and marketing. Cheri also ended up signing a deal with Bad Boy Records.
In the late 2000s, Rich Dollaz would help Ryan Leslie with his own singing career. Ryan Leslie wanted to step outside of the producer’s booth and try to express himself vocally. The duo recorded Diamond Girl which was released on Ryan’s 2009 album.
Rich Dollaz was the manager of the female group, Danity Kane. The magnetic group had amazing chemistry that helped them become the winners of Making the Band 3. Rich Dollaz became their manager when they were on the verge of a big hit with the song Show Stopper. Before the band disbanded in 2008, the trio of talented ladies succeeded in delivering 3 mega hits on the musical charts. They would reunite later but only for a brief time because the chemistry was no longer there. When a band reaches the top, sometimes the only way left to go is down. Rich Dollaz had hoped that his former band could patch things up for another successful run but the magic from their start had disappeared.
Rich Dollaz took pride in promoting females in hip hop. In a genre mostly dominated by men, he was doing his part to add some feminine vibes to the playing field. He successfully signed Olivia to G-Unit, making her the first woman to become a member of the rough hip group led by 50 cent.
There was one controversial issue regarding his manager career. The scandal appeared when the song Where Do I Go From Here was recorded. Initially the song was meant for an artist named Erica but Rich later gave it to Olivia of G-Unit. There was tension between Rich, Olivia and Erica because of the mixed up deals. The controversy led to two versions of the same song being released but in the end it did not harm Rich’s career.
