Chad Marshall (born November 24, 1991) is a GS9 and Epic Records rapper from Brooklyn. Rowdy Rebel is his stage moniker. He's part of the GS9 crew from Brooklyn, featuring rapper Bobby Shmurda. Rowdy Rebel starred alongside Fabolous, Chris Brown, Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss, and Yo Gotti in Shmurda's video for "Hot Nigga," and was also included in an official remix of the song alongside Fabolous, Chris Brown, Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss, and Yo Gotti.
Marshall grew up in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, sometimes known as "the 90s." His neighbors referred to him as "rowdy" when he was a kid, which led to his stage name. Many members of GS9 grew up in the same East Flatbush area, including Shmurda. He was born in Barbados and had Barbadian origins.
Marshall rose to notoriety in 2014 due to the success of his GS9 comrade Bobby Shmurda. Two weeks after Shmurda signed with Epic Records, he was signed to the label. Marshall worked on a remix of Shmurda's well-known song "Hot Nigga" with big-name musicians like Fabolous, Jadakiss, Chris Brown, Busta Rhymes, and Yo Gotti. Marshall also released several tracks, including "Computers," which was featured on the Shmoney Shmurda album by GS9 (Shmixtape). He released the single "Beam Jawn" in October 2014, which featured no members of the GS9 group or other artists.
In June 2020, he made his first music appearance in three years, appearing on the late rapper Pop Smoke's single "Make It Rain." The song was Marshall's first charting single, reaching number 51 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Complex interviewed rowdy shortly after his release from prison in December 2020, and he stated that he intended to release music immediately. His crew urged him to concentrate on a long-awaited full-length project dubbed Rowdy vs. Rebel. He also confirmed that Epic Records still manage him.
On February 12, 2021, Rowdy Rebel and Canadian rapper, Nav released the single "Jesse Owens."
On December 17, 2014, Marshall was arrested for conspiracy, attempted murder, attempted assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon by the New York Police Department. On suspicion of narcotics trafficking, Bobby Shmurda and 13 other members of GS9 were also arrested. Marshall has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges brought against him. He agreed to plead guilty in exchange for 6–7 years in prison. Marshall received approximately two years' worth of credit for time served while awaiting trial. Rebel was scheduled for a parole hearing in August 2020, and it was approved in December 2020. Following a six-year sentence, Marshall was released from prison on December 15, 2020. A fellow rapper, Young Thug, presented him with a YSL chain to honor his release.
Rowdy Rebel has never married and is a single man. He is now single, according to speculations. During his spectacular rise in the hip-hop world, he was dating a woman. While Rebel was incarcerated and awaiting trial, they remained together. It's unclear whether or not he's still seeing her.
