Sage Steele is a very sharp and out of the ordinary anchor. She is the main host of SportsCenter On The Road. Along with that, she also hosts the weekend editions of NBA Countdown on ABC, the year 2016 to 2017 marking her fourth season.
Steele’s beginning
Steele was born to an African American family on the 28th of November, 1972, in the Panama Canal Zone. Since her father was in the army and was always moving to different places for work, she did her schooling in many schools. She completed her high school in Colorado and Indiana. She did her graduation in journalism in the Indiana University and completed it in 1995.
Prior to her hit ESPN career
Sage worked in the field of journalism soon after her graduation and her career debut was in WSBT television as a sports reporter, in the year 1995. She stuck to that job till 1997. She then moved to working with CBS as the morning sports reporter on weekends, and a general reporter during the weekdays. There, her responsibilities included covering auto races and local college and high school events. She worked there for only one year, leaving in 1998.
She continued to work for several channels, including Fox News and ComCast SportsNet. During her reign at ComCast SportsNet, she remained the main anchor and reporter for the Baltimore Ravens.
Joining ESPN
In 2007, she joined ESPN and hosted the evening sport show. That is not all though. In an interview, she revealed that in the year 2004 she was offered this particular job but she had to turn it down due to her being pregnant with her second child.

She hosts other shows in the same channel as well, including herself hosting NBA countdown show for ESPN sport channel. Apart from that, she also co-hosted the Miss America 2017 pageant with Chris Harrison. Her net worth is not publicly known.
Tying the knot
When it comes to her personal life, it is known that she is married and has 3 children, two daughters and a sun. She is married to Jonathan Bailey with whom she was in a relationship for six years and then tied the knot in 1999. Bailey continues to lead his life as a stay at home dad. Considering the fact that Steele and Bailey have been married since, it is safe to say that they are content with each other and have no complaints whatsoever. It does not look likely that they will seek divorce.
Trouble in paradise
However, in 2012, Sage was alleged to have openly flirted with Jalen Rose and the news about it was like a fire on the websites. It was rumored that they had an affair. It was said that the duo was seen openly flirting on the sets of her show Sport center and were talking about a romantic dinner. The best thing about the whole issue is that they did not even notice the camera rolling.
This was not the first event for Sage though. Earlier, Weismann alleged that Sage was flirting with an athlete. However, this time the flirting news alleges Sage and it was said that Jalen did not look interested at all. She has also been seen hanging out with many other people and has dined out with them as well but these incidents have not had any impact on her marriage life.
Controversies surrounding Steele herself
Upon the acknowledgement of Donald Trump’s ‘Muslim Ban’, Sage shared a picture of a protest that took place at the LAX Airport on Instagram. In said post, she wrote that while she does love a good protest, it was quite troubling to herself and others. She accused the protestors for finding happiness in disrupting the lives of travelers.
Understandably, she came under a lot of fire for having said something as petty as that. The public immediately disregarded her post as something childish, drawing a comparison between the detainees that were help up for at least twenty hours at airports and Steele herself complaining about being stuck for a mere seven hours.
The public weren’t the only ones to unleash their wrath on Steele, though. Her fellow ESPN employee, Dan Le Batard, spoke about Steele’s said Instagram post, and said that he failed to understand how her travel plans were affected.
This wasn’t the first time Sage was under fire for her actions. She is known for her ridiculous opinions on the controversial topic ‘All Lives Matter’. Recently, she expressed her distaste in the action of Mike Evans, a player from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he kneeled during the national anthem. She was bashed for holding the opinion that kneeling during the national anthem equals to disrespecting the military.
Steele’s struggle with self-identity
Steele has opened up about the hateful comments that she receives many times. She said it was tough growing up as a bi-racial girl, and she even had trouble figuring her identity out as a teen. She even gets criticized for having married a man who doesn’t belong to her own race. What made it worse for Sage was an incident where someone thought she was the nanny of her own kids. She was assumed to be so because her children do not look like they belong to her racial background.
Steele: An idol to many
Sage is 45 years old and yet she has appearance of those in their 20s. She is extremely beautiful and envied by many. She has an impressive height of 5 feet and 10 inches and looks very attractive. Her biggest advantage is that she looks great despite her age. She is very dedicated to her profession and this has turned her into a famous television celebrity in America.
None of the gossips or rumors has affected her personal life in any way. Nor has it affected her professional life. What draws everyone to her like a flame to a moth is her powerful and enigmatic aura. She enjoys both sides of her life equally and it does not look likely that she would divorce her husband.
