Scarlett Sigourney Moffatt was born on October 17, 1990, in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, England. Before gaining fame in the television industry, she worked as a supermarket cashier. Moffatt also trained in ballroom and Latin dance from a young age, competing in various local and national competitions. At age 11, she was involved in a serious car accident, which resulted in her developing Bell’s palsy, a condition that causes temporary facial paralysis.
Moffatt’s first television appearance came in 2013 when she was featured on MTV's reality series Beauty School Cop Outs. In 2014, she rose to national recognition after joining Channel 4’s hit show Gogglebox alongside her parents. Her quick wit and relatable commentary made her a fan favorite.
Her breakout came in 2016 when she competed in the sixteenth series of ITV’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!. Scarlett won the series, earning widespread public admiration and solidifying her place in British popular culture.
In January 2017, following her success on I’m a Celebrity, Moffatt was announced as the host of a revived version of the dating show Streetmate. That same month, she also served as a backstage presenter for the National Television Awards, further expanding her presence in the UK television industry.
On December 26, 2016 (Boxing Day), Moffatt released a fitness DVD titled Scarlett's SuperSlim Me Plan, which documented her weight-loss journey. However, in March 2018, the DVD attracted criticism when it was reported that the program promoted a 1,200-calorie-per-day diet, while Moffatt had reportedly attended intensive boot camps and followed a reduced-calorie regimen of approximately 700 calories daily to achieve her transformation. The controversy sparked broader discussions about transparency in celebrity-endorsed fitness products.
