Shaun Livingston is a former American professional basketball player best known for his key role in the Golden State Warriors’ championship success. He helped the team capture three NBA titles during his tenure.
Shaun Patrick Livingston was born on September 11, 1985, in Peoria, Illinois, to Reggie Livingston and Ann Wyman. His parents met at a dance club in Peoria and married two years later. Although they welcomed Shaun shortly thereafter, their marriage did not last. They separated when Shaun was just two years old. Initially, his mother, Ann, was granted custody, but due to challenges in maintaining consistent care, Reggie eventually took over parental responsibilities. Shaun has two sisters, Sarah Aupperle-Livingston and Blair Wyman.
Shaun Livingston entered the NBA directly from high school in the 2004 NBA Draft, selected fourth overall by the Los Angeles Clippers. Despite a devastating knee injury in 2007 that nearly ended his career, Livingston demonstrated remarkable resilience, eventually making a notable comeback.
He joined the Golden State Warriors in 2014 and became a vital contributor off the bench during one of the most dominant stretches in NBA history. With Livingston on their roster, the Warriors reached the NBA Finals five consecutive times, winning championships in 2015, 2017, and 2018. Known for his poise, mid-range game, and versatility, he averaged 5.4 points, 2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game across five seasons with the Warriors, while playing an average of 17.5 minutes per game.
In 2019, at age 33, Livingston was waived by the Golden State Warriors as part of a roster restructuring focused on reducing luxury tax liabilities. His playing time and statistical output had declined in the 2018–19 season, during which he appeared in fewer games than in any non-lockout season since 2009–2010. Despite this, he remained a respected veteran presence and a symbol of perseverance in professional sports. Shaun Livingston announced his retirement from basketball later that year.
Shaun Livingston is married to Joanna Williams, a longtime model and entrepreneur originally from Las Vegas, Nevada. Joanna, also known as Joey, is one of the founders of the Chung Marie Group, a creative production company that offers full-service media and branding solutions.
The couple married in August 2017 in a private ceremony attended by close family and friends. Following their wedding, they settled in Oakland, California. After retiring from basketball, Shaun and Joanna expressed plans to focus on starting a family and pursuing entrepreneurial and philanthropic endeavors.
